For the past few weeks he&#8217;s been working in the busy kitchen at the new <a href=\"http:\/\/gtfishandoyster.wordpress.com\/\">GT Fish and Oyster<\/a>, which opens it&#8217;s doors tonight.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After a week or more of previews they gave Jeff a day off. Being the swell guy that he is he took me on a little tour of Vietnam Town. There were some truly excellent, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kvncsy.com\/?p=2014\">familiar feeling<\/a> grocery stores and a few great looking restaurants offering wide, sloshing bowls of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ph%E1%BB%9F\">Ph\u1edf<\/a>. (We ate our massive lunch\/dinner meal at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/pho-xe-tang----tank-noodle-restaurant-chicago\">Tank Noodle<\/a>, a popular corner restaurant just off the Argyle Metro line.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kvncsy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/P1000167.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2677\" title=\"P1000167\" src=\"http:\/\/astroblastro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/P1000167.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/astroblastro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/P1000167.jpg 620w, https:\/\/astroblastro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/P1000167-440x247.jpg 440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Getting a little more familiar with the extended neighborhood feels great, for one, I know where I&#8217;ll be buying my sriracha hot sauce from now on. But I think the best discovery of the night came after dinner. Jeff lives just east of me, but\u00a0 we got off on the same stop and looked for a place to get a drop to drink. As it turns out I live right next door to a humble little bar, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/the-village-tap-chicago\">The Village Tap<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After a few hoppy beers and a game of Yatzee! with a nurse we met it was time to go. Poor Jeff had to leg it back over to his place while I got to exploit\u00a0 the privilege of proximity.
