#1 most anticipated album of 2010: the promised upcoming release by The Books.  I saw them live a few weeks ago in Seattle and they mentioned an upcoming release and played a couple of songs off of it.  They were all very good, maybe not as good as the stuff on their previous album from back in 2005 Lost and Safe, but still totally solid.
And in case you haven’t heard The Books, the above clip is one of my favorite tracks from Lost and Safe called Smells Like Content.

The Concretes: Kids

I came across this song via the ultra cool blog Leningrad Dutch and I love it.

The Concretes are an indy octet from Stockholm and this is a single from their 2007 album Hey Trouble. It’s a good album, sounding like a sweetened Velvet Undergound.

The lead singer on this track is Lisa Milberg who has a solo project called Taken By Trees. I highly recommend her cover of my favorite Animal Collective song My Girls.
