Sworn Virgins

Sworn Virgin, or ‘burnesha” elevated a woman to the status of a man and granted her all the rights and privileges of the male population. In order to manifest the transition such a woman cut her hair, donned male clothing and sometimes even changed her name. Male gestures and swaggers were practiced until they became second nature. Just Crazy

Big Jay Mcneely going crazy!

Kenny in LA

My friend Kenny’s been back from his tours in Afghanistan for a while now. While he was there he sent me photos every now and then and I would post them on this blog. To close that series of posts I wanted to share these photos of Ken from a road trip he took to LA his friend Samimi took. They’re wonderful.

For a taste, compare the photo below to this one he sent me in 2010.

Charlotte Caron

Human/animal portraits on photographs made by french artist Charlotte Caron. The animal masks look like they have appeared in a splash of energy, or like they’ve been shot out of a gun. Violent like jets breaking the sound barrier or fruit shot by a gun. The paintings I found on ffffound.

Off the Grid

Photographer Eric Valli. I love the color quality of these photos. They remind me of the glossy pages of old National Geographics. Click through some of the other stories on his page, I liked Honey Hunters too.
