American Museum of Natural History: Part 1

There were lot’s of awesome taxidermied animals at the AMNH all up on the wall. Almost like a butterfly mounted display!

But by far the best was the coelacanth. It’s huge!

There was one fish that was cooler than the coelacanth, this is the Wolftrap Angler. It would be my favorite but it looks made up by a creative/bored model maker.

White Lizards Evolve in New Mexico Dunes

Erica Bree Rosenblum’s focus has been on three lizard species that elsewhere are dark skinned but in White Sands have each evolved a white-skinned variety that makes them hard to find. “It’s really obvious what’s happened,” Dr. Rosenblum said. “Everybody got white so that they could better escape from their predators.” It’s a great example of convergent evolution, of species independently acquiring the same traits.

Marine biologists from the National Taiwan Ocean University discovered a new species of crab off the southern Taiwanese coast. With a bright red shell covered with small white spots, the crab resembles a large strawberry. Tana and Alpa

These are the sweet dogs McK was sitting this past weekend. Alpa’s the top dog and older than Tana who is very playful. While McK was at work I would take the dogs out to play fetch. These dogs are expertly trained fetchers, they take turns! One will lay in the snow while the other tears down the road after the stick. They’re both very sweet and I for one will miss ’em both.
