Sprouts!

Holy cucumber Batman! McK and I are starting a food garden for the first time and some of our plants are already coming up well. The kale rocketed up after three days of planting, the tomatoes were next, and this little guy is a cucumber plant.

Kevin Connolly Got Boingboinged

A fellow Helenan and friend Kevin Connolly recently popped up on the world famous, A-list blog Boingboing.net. Not only was he linked, or mentioned, but he wrote the post! Way to go Kevin.

He writes about open source prosthetics in reaction to this Gizmodo post by Amiee Mullins who he describes as, “a double below knee amputee, actress, track athlete, and total babe.” (Also she played a leopard-satyr in a Cremaster film.) Check out his post on boingboing.

Kevin also maintains a blog where amongst other things he’s documenting the development of a radically new kind of prosthetic based on Powerisers stilts.

Halfy Birthday Bannack

Today is Bannack’s half birthday. The past six months have slipped by so quickly! How did you manage to grow this much so fast Bannack? I hope you don’t keep getting older at this same rate, otherwise soon enough you’ll be as old as the rest of us, little man.

We celebrated his Birthday with a nice family lunch today at noon. Mom made some great veggie soup and Jackson was jumping up for joy.
